Khanh-Duc Kuttig, 2021 TESOL/NGL Teacher of the Year, has an MA in TESOL from Canterbury Christchurch University and has been teaching English since 1995. Currently, in the Department of English at the University of Siegen, she teaches a range of language courses which she assesses creatively, often encouraging more learner autonomy, engagement and creativity at the same time.

Online exchanges in language learning can improve foreign language competence and knowledge through connections with other speakers if they are well-designed. By sharing insights from an exchange project involving EFL learners in two different countries, in two different time zones, the talk outlines the steps in the design of a successful online exchange project, shares participants feedback and reflects on the key elements that make such online exchanges a valuable learning experience.
