Students’ Involvement in Classroom-Based Assessment Processes: Empirical Insights from Moroccan EFL Classrooms

26/07/2025 15:00 UTC

Students' involvement is a significant concern nowadays. In the assessment process, Antón (2012) argues that students’ involvement helps them understand the evaluation criteria and guidelines. Accordingly, they need teachers’ support to understand the goals being aimed for, comprehend the criteria for achieving those goals, develop a repertoire of skills and strategies to self-assess their progress, and autonomously direct their learning (Heritage, 2013). This is the kind of assessment Black and Wiliam (1998) consider a “moment of learning” and what Smith (2016) describes as “sustainable.”
