Brains and Bots: Scaling Teacher Training Development with Human-AI Collaboration

25/07/2025 23:00 UTC

Faced with extreme time pressure, three English language specialists built a custom GPT to create 100 hours of highly tailored asynchronous teacher training content in 10 weeks. In this session learn the structure, workflow, and process that helped to scale training without compromising instructional design, learning science, or human judgement.

Key takeaways:

  1. Participants will explore and list details a human-in-the-loop framework for using a custom-trained GPT to rapidly develop course content, allowing creators to scale production of learning content without compromising human judgment or instructional design.

  2. Participants will learn the process of how to ground AI-assisted development in established learning science, using principles like Bloom's Taxonomy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and experiential learning to maintain pedagogical integrity and accessibility from the start.

  3. Participants will learn practical strategies for treating AI as a "junior writer", implementing a multi-stage review process to ensure quality, and applying hands-on editing to overcome the inconsistencies inherent in AI-generated drafts
